• 💡Rio de Janeiro was Brazil's capital for nearly 200 years (1763-1960), before being replaced by Brasília. It was also the only European capital outside Europe when the Portuguese court moved here in 1808.
• 💡Rio's Carnival attracts over 2 million people per day during celebrations. Samba schools spend the entire year preparing their 80-minute performances at the Sambadrome.
• 💡Christ the Redeemer was chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. It was designed by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built between 1922 and 1931.
