✈️Getting There
San Cristóbal has its own airport (SCY) with direct flights from Quito and Guayaquil (TAME, Avianca, LATAM). The advantage is the airport is just 5 minutes by taxi from downtown Puerto Baquerizo Moreno — the most convenient arrival in all of Galápagos. You can also arrive by speed boat from Santa Cruz ($30, ~2.5 hrs, departs at 7 AM).
🏨Where to Stay
Waterfront / Malecón
Hotels with harbor views and sea lions sleeping on benches. Perfect location to walk to all points of interest.
Playa Mann Area
Near the most popular beach and the university. Youthful, relaxed atmosphere with easy access to the Interpretation Center.
Residential Area
More affordable options in guesthouses and hostels. 10-15 minutes walking from the waterfront.
🛡️Safety
San Cristóbal is probably the safest island in the Galápagos. Puerto Baquerizo Moreno is a very peaceful town. Respect National Park rules and use biodegradable sunscreen. For Kicker Rock, make sure to go with certified operators — currents can be strong and a good swimming level is required.

Free Activities
Lobería, Playa Mann, Frigate Bird Hill, Interpretation Center and Playa Carola are completely free. You can spend 2 amazing days without spending on tours.
Kicker Rock
Book your Kicker Rock tour in advance ($150-200). It's the star activity. Includes snorkeling and a beach visit. Bring motion sickness pills if sensitive.
Sea Lions
At Playa Mann you can swim with sea lions from the shore — free and no tour needed. Keep respectful distance and don't touch them, but they'll approach you.
Sunsets
Playa Carola has the best sunsets in the Galápagos. Arrive 30 minutes before sunset and enjoy with a beer from town.
How Many Days
Minimum 2-3 nights. Day 1: Lobería, Playa Mann, Frigate Bird Hill. Day 2: Kicker Rock. Day 3 (optional): Punta Pitt or free day in town.
Food
Budget lunches ($4-6) are found at market eateries. For dinner, waterfront restaurants offer fresh catch of the day.
